A Texas family officially owns the tallest dog in the world. Or at least one of them. According to People, Guinness World Records has announced that a two-year-old Great Dane named Zeus is the tallest living male dog on the planet.
Zeus lives with the Davis family in Bedford, Texas. His veterinarian-verified height is 3 feet and 5.18 inches, or just over 41 inches, when standing on all four paws. Zeus is so tall that the kitchen sink serves as his water bowl, and stealing food off of the counter is child’s play.
Understandably, Zeus attracts a lot of attention when out in public. Brittany Davis says the comments and questions she hears most often include, “Wow! That’s a horse!”, “Can I ride him?”, and “Does he have a saddle?” For the record, no.
Coincidentally, the tallest dog to ever live was also a Great Dane named Zeus. He grew to be 44 inches in height before passing away in 2014. Here’s a look at the Davis family’s lovable giant and current record holder:
