STAFFORD, ENGLAND - FEBRUARY 06: A police cordon surrounds the scene of a house fire in Sycamore Lane, Stafford, which claimed the lives of four children yesterday, on February 06, 2019 in Stafford, England. Police have named the four children who died as Keegan Unitt, aged 6, Tilly Unitt, 4, Olly Unitt, 3, and their older brother Riley Holt, 8. Two adults and another child are being treated in hospital.

Dozens of animals were removed from the home of two parents facing charges for the death of their daughter. WSPA reports that the South Carolina parents are facing charges for the death of their 14-year-old daughter.

The Cherokee County Sheriff’s Office reports more than 40 animals were seized from the home of David and Bobbie Jo Baynard. Many of the animals in the home added to its “unfit” living conditions. WSPA reports that the factors also contributed to the death of their daughter.

Sheriff Steve Mueller told WSPA, that the home was in “deplorable condition.” The teen with disabilities and health conditions was pronounced dead from neglect. “That neglect led to a serious medical condition that ultimately caused her death on April the 11th,” said Cherokee County Coroner Dennis Fowler. The sheriff’s office then executed a second search warrant, finding dozens and dogs and cats.

“A lot of feces in the home, both from the cats and the dogs; urine, which created a huge ammonia-type smell,” said Sheriff Mueller to WSPA. Many of the animals are now in shelters or at the veterinarian. WSPA says the sheriff’s office said the condition of the home was unsuitable for any adult, let alone a 14-year-old girl.

Both David and Bobbie Jo Baynard are being held at the Cherokee County Detention Center without bond. Deputies expect more charges to be filed at a later date.

According to the Cherokee County Animal Shelter, the Humane Society is assisting with the animals. When the animals meet health requirements, they will be put up for adoption.
