Do you know how to make North Carolina's favorite dessert? In case you forgot, Coventry Direct listed each state's favorite desserts and coconut cake won for North Carolina. Yeah, you read that right. I said coconut cake was named North Carolina's favorite dessert!

So, what does this mean? Guess tons of people across the state really do enjoy coconut cake. Personally, I have never had a taste of this dessert. Honestly, I am not sure if I have ever even heard of it. My family is not big on coconut flavor, but I was fascinated to learn about it is North Carolina's favorite. Now, I wonder what does this cake taste like?

Me being me, I took my talents to TikTok to learn more. Maybe you are like me and intrigued about finding out how this coconut cake tastes? Or maybe you are one of the reasons why it's ranked number 1 in North Carolina. Either way, check out this recipe to learn how to make North Carolina's favorite dessert.. coconut cake!

Ingredients:

  • white cake mix
  • eggs
  • milk
  • butter
  • vanilla extract
  • sour cream
  • coconut
  • cream cheese frosting

We’ve run into a few lists that make us shake our heads over the years. But this one may take the… cake- pun 100% intended. North Carolina’s favorite dessert is not one we would have thought of. Coventry Direct used some interesting methodology to determine the most popular dessert in every state. They took a list of 40 of the most popular desserts and then analyzed Google search terms in each state for those 40 desserts.

While not a bad metric, it does seem to create an issue in states where popular desserts don’t really need to be Googled: Grandma just passes that recipe right on down. But anyway, while most of us might guess chocolate cake, or sweet potato pie for North Carolina, you’d be wrong apparently. Also, Idaho, Minnesota, New Hampshire, SOUTH CAROLINA are y'all ok? The other question I have is what in the world is Texas sheet cake and why is it so popular? Also why is there no just chocolate or vanilla cake or cupcakes on this list? I have to think those are more popular than things that made this list.

But what is North Carolina's favorite dessert? Well, let’s take a look at the most popular dessert in every state:
