First Look At Tom Hanks In Disney’s Live-Action ‘Pinocchio’
How many iconic roles can one actor have in a career? We won’t know until Tom Hanks retires. Disney has dropped the teaser trailer (below) showing the Oscar winner as ‘Geppetto’ in the upcoming live-action version of Pinocchio.
This isn’t the first time Disney has told the tale of Pinocchio. The classic animated version many of us remember was released in 1940. In case you’ve forgotten, ‘Geppetto’ is the kindly old woodcarver who created the boy puppet.
The new Pinocchio also stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt as the voice of ‘Jiminy Cricket,’ as well as Keegan-Michael Key, Lorraine Bracco, Cynthia Erivo, and Luke Evans. Benjamin Evan Ainsworth is the voice of ‘Pinocchio.’
According to UPI, the film is directed by Robert Zemeckis. He and Tom Hanks also worked together on Forrest Gump. This has “box office gold” written all over it.
Pinocchio is coming to Disney+ September 8th. That’s “Disney+ Day,” which marks the celebration of when the streaming app debuted in 2019.
