‘Leave It to Beaver’ Star Tony Dow In Hospice. Death Notice Released Erroneously
Tony Dow who played Wally on Leave It To Beaver was reported to have passed away Tuesday 7/26/22 at age 77. Leave It To Beaver aired from 1957-1963. Later Tuesday evening, the family recanted the report that he had passed and was in Hospice care. Not sure how the death notice got released before the fact. We’re watching the story for updates.
Growing up in Concord back in the 60’s and 70’s, I was a big fan of “Leave It To Beaver”. Watching the show every week. Now, in syndication you can watch it every weekday on TVLAND. Beaver Cleaver (played by Jerry Mathers) was the little brother always getting into hot water.
This past May he was diagnosed with liver cancer. He also acted in My Three Sons and Never Too Late. Dow took a break from acting to serve in the National Guard from 1965-1968. He reprised his role as Wally from 1983-1989 on The New Leave It To Beaver. It was a simpler time when family comedies like this were the order of the day. Watch some episodes and remember the “good ole days” and remember Tony Dow as it seems he’s in his final days.
