Gabby Petito Foundation Joining Forces With Domestic Violence Hotline
HOLBROOK, NY - SEPTEMBER 26: A sign for Gabby Petito is seen outside of a funeral home on September 26, 2021 in Holbrook, New York. As the search continues into a second week in Florida to find Brian Laundrie, who is a person of interest, the family of Gabby Petito holds a public funeral in her hometown of Long Island.
The mother of Gabby Petito has devoted herself to helping other women struggling with abusive relationships. Nichole Schmidt on behalf of the Gabby Petito foundation, has partnered with the National Domestic Violence Hotline through a $100,000 donation. Petito’s death made national headlines last year after she was allegedly murdered by her boyfriend Brian Laundrie while on a cross-country trip. Schmidt told reporters “I think Gabby’s story touched a lot of people and she’s saving lives. I get people messaging me all the time that they were inspired by her to get out of a relationship”.
Gabby’s story captivated the nation. I know personally, that I followed the story obsessively while it was happening. The whole situation is tragic and the revelations of domestic violence are heartbreaking. Hopefully, this money from the Gabby Petito Foundation will save at least one life via the domestic violence hotline. I only wigh Gabby had taken the steps to get help and this situation could have been avoided. If you or someone you know are a victim of domestic violence please call the hotline and get help. It can and will get better. And you deserve to live a safe and happy life.
I’ll be very interested to follow the trial if it does in fact happen. Gabby’s family is suing the Laundrie’s and Brian’s estate over her death and the lack of cooperation from her parents.
Brian Laundrie's Notebook Confession Released And Its Stunning
I followed the Gabby Petito and Brian Laundrie disappearance/murder very closely. Something about this case just drew me in and I couldn’t turn away. I had hoped Gabby would be found alive, and then eventually that Brian would be so some answers could be known. Unfortunately, both were found deceased. There is the impending civil litigation in civil court where her parents are suing them as well as his estate. I watched the motion to dismiss hearings yesterday and was hopeful that the case will make it to court so that we could learn what happened. This wasn’t supposed to happen, if the judge lets the lawsuit move forward, until 2023. You can imagine my shock when I glanced down at my phone and saw the notification that Brian Laundrie’s notebook confession had been released.
I’m not going to lie I had an idea in my head of what happened. We saw the police dash cam footage of their domestic dispute, we all saw the way he/his family acted in the days following the murder. But this, this was not what I was expecting at all. Is it the full story? I mean that we will never truly know. The only two people who know what happened near Spread Creek in Grand Teton National Park last August are no longer with us. So Brian Laundrie’s notebook confession is the best “why” we are going to get in regards to this tragic story.
The entry is 8 pages long and explains what happened, his regrets, and some other bombshells. Interesting that in regards to the lawsuit this basically confirms that the Laundrie parents did in fact know that Brian had killed her and even where her body was. It makes you feel for her family even more. I’m still left with more questions than answers after reading this. But I do feel for everyone involved in this tragic situation.
