When you want some food, but there’s nothing made, who you gonna call? Well, I suppose you could call your favorite takeout place, or you could crack open the new Ghostbusters cookbook!
According to People, Ghostbusters: The Official Cookbook comes out October 25th. It might be exactly what you need if you need help creating some Halloween treats. The book includes over 50 recipes such as “Dana’s Demon Eggs” and also shows you how to create an edible mini-version of the “Stay Puft Marshmallow Man” from the 1984 movie.
Making meals based on your favorite movies and TV shows can be a lot of fun. One of my favorite TV-inspired cookbooks is The Sopranos Family Cookbook from 2002. It’s full of great Italian recipes from Artie Bucco’s Nuovo Vesuvio restaurant. My wife and I used to make something from that book before watching each new episode of The Sopranos.
If someone says, “No soup for you,” just cook your own with Seinfeld: The Official Cookbook. It will hit shelves October 11th with recipes for over 60 items like black-and-white cookies and “Elaine’s muffin tops.” The book pays tribute to all nine seasons of the classic sitcom.
Want your kids to learn some cooking skills? They might like The Official Harry Potter Baking Book or Avatar the Last Airbender: The Official Cookbook. My Pokémon Cookbook, which drops on October 25th, has fifty recipes, including lemon tarts that look like Pikachu and spring rolls inspired by Breloom.
Believe it or not, you can also get cookbooks inspired by The Walking Dead, Alien, and Hannibal Lechter. I would read the ingredients lists in those very carefully.
People’s list of pop culture cookbooks also includes titles based on Emily in Paris, Marvel’s Black Panther, Parks and Recreation, Friends, Downton Abbey, and The Golden Girls. I bet the Bob’s Burgers cookbook is really good. Even Kevin Malone from The Office has his own cookbook! Remember the “Kevin’s famous chili” scene? You can see it below.
Kevin From 'The Office' Has A Chili Cookbook Coming This Fall
If you’re a fan of the show ‘The Office’, then you’re quite familiar with the episode featuring Kevin’s famous chili. In the episode, Kevin is seen brining a pot of his chili to work. He chats about the family recipe, explaining how he’s up the night before pressing garlic, dicing whole tomatoes, toasting chili peppers, and undercooking the onions. Making this chili, which has been passed down through generations of Malones, is probably the thing he’s best at in life.
Sadly, for Kevin, carrying the chili is a challenge. He drops the whole pot as soon as he gets into the office, and there’s chili all over the carpet. In one of the grossest moments of the show in my opinion, Kevin then tries to scoop the spilled chili back into the pot. UGH! Funny and nasty at the same time.
Fans of chili and the show have been wanting Kevin’s recipe for quite some time, and now it’s available! Actor Brian Baumgartner, who plays Kevin, now has his own chili cookbook hitting stores next month. According to Food Beast, The Seriously Good Chili Cookbook: 177 of the Best Recipes in the World will be released on September 13. Just in time for fall! Chili is one of the best things to make on a cool day, and I’m stoked to check out the recipes in this book. I love a good cookbook!
If you’re a fan of ‘The Office’ or know someone who is, this would make a great gift! Phil and I are both big fans of the show and the chili episode, so we’re both going to have to get this book. If you’re interested, you pre-order the book now on Amazon. If you’ve never seen the chili episode, check it out below.
