The Fairfield ‘MOMbies’ Are Rockin It For Breast Cancer Research
This is one of the best things I’ve seen in a long time! AND since I am a breast cancer survivor, I especially like this! I had to do a little digging, but I got the story on these awesome ladies. The Fairfield ‘Mombies’ have been dancing to raise funds for breast cancer research since 2016, and they are quite popular.
According to mombies.org, in the fall of 2016, Sandie Hawkins asked some friends to join her in a dance routine. The Connecticut women kept it a secret, and surprised their friends and family on Halloween night. They partnered with Vinny Patino to learn the choreography. Going to Zumba class was their cover, and the women or MOMbies danced for their community.
Soon after, the women realized that they could perform for something good, funding breast cancer research. In 2017, the MOMbies struck again and performed. They asked that folks consider making a donation to The Cancer Couch Foundation which funds research for metastatic breast cancer. All the funds the MOMbies raise goes directly to the organization.
This year the kick-ass MOMbies are dancing to Michael Jackson’s ‘Thriller’ and they’re absolutely amazing! I hope they continue for years to come, not only because watching them is so much fun, but because they’re dancing for a great cause!
