So far, we’ve only seen a cryptic teaser for the sequel. Now, we’re finally getting our first good look at A Christmas Story Christmas.

Almost 40 years after the release of the holiday classic, A Christmas Story, HBO Max has dropped the official trailer for A Christmas Story Christmas. The sequel features original star Peter Billingsley as Ralphie Parker. In the trailer, the grown-up Ralphie tries to reconnect with his inner child and deal with the death of his father.

According to Variety, the upcoming movie is set in the 1970s (you can tell by Ralphie’s sideburns), since the original 1983 movie was set around 1940. Other returning actors from the original movie include Ian Petrella as Ralphie’s little brother, Randy; Zack Ward as Scut Farkus; Scott Schwartz as Flick; and R.D. Robb as Schwartz. Julie Hagerty (Airplane) plays Mrs. Parker, in place of Melinda Dillon from the original.

A Christmas Story Christmas begins streaming November 17th on HBO Max. I’ve watched the trailer a couple of times. It has a bit of a National Lampoon’s Christmas Vacation vibe to it. Are you ready?
