Miller Lite Christmas Tree Stand Doubles As Beer Tap

A lot of people find that alcohol helps them get through the holidays, especially if they have to spend time with certain relatives, but this is taking it to a whole other level. Miller Lite has just unveiled a new product that can be best described as a combination Christmas tree stand and keg holder. They call it the first-ever Christmas Tree Keg Stand.

According to Milwaukee’s BizTimes, the newest addition to Miller Lite’s annual Holiday Collection is a fully-functioning tree stand that also holds a keg of Miller Lite. It literally allows users to pour draft beer from the base of their Christmas tree. And if you give the tree some water, technically, you’re not drinking alone.

The tree/beer stand has room for a quarter-barrel keg and ice bucket underneath. A hole in the top of the box allows the tap’s spout to fit through so Yuletide revelers can pour a cold one right next to the ol’ Tannenbaum. The box is fairly tall so the recommended maximum height for the tree is five feet. Are you willing to sacrifice some tree height for “A Fine Pilsner Christmas?”

Which Booze Goes In Your Eggnog?

With the holiday season upon us, it’s time to ask some serious questions. Real or fake tree? White or colored lights? A Christmas Story or Christmas Vacation? And what kind of alcohol goes in eggnog?

A new survey from Tasting Table looks at the best best booze to put in the traditional holiday beverage. Legend has it that George Washington was an eggnog fan and even had his own recipe, including rye whiskey, which he distilled himself at Mount Vernon, as well as brandy, rum, and sherry. No wonder he had wooden teeth!

Most modern eggnog recipes call for just one type of alcohol, but folks are mixed on which one. Forty-two percent of those surveyed agreed that rum is the best choice for spiking their nog. About 20 percent prefer brandy, 17 percent want bourbon, followed closely by whiskey with 16 percent of the votes. Just under five percent chose cognac.
