Rihanna Shares New Song ‘Born Again’ From ‘Black Panther 2’ Soundtrack
Rihanna has shared a new song titled “Born Again” from the soundtrack of Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. “Born Again” was written by The-Dream who previously collaborated with RiRi on “Umbrella” and “Birthday Cake.” “Born Again” is Rihanna’s second single of the year after her triumphant return to music with the song “Lift Me Up.” That song is also found on the Wakanda Forever soundtrack. “Lift Me Up” was written by singer Tems, producer Ludwig Göransson, and the Marvel movie’s director, Ryan Coogler, as a tribute to the late Chadwick Boseman. Rihanna followed up with a visual to “Lift Me Up” directed by Autumn Durald Arkapaw who is a cinematographer for Wakanda Forever. Prior to “Lift Me Up,” Rihanna’s last music release as a lead artist was her 2016 album Anti.
While fans are awaiting a follow-up to Anti, during the red carpet for Rihanna's Savage X Fenty: Vol. 4 — which aired exclusively on Amazon Prime Video Wednesday (Nov. 9) — the popstar clarified that her Super Bowl announcement has nothing to do with the release of a new music project.
“That’s not true,” she said when asked in an Associated Press interview if her Super Bowl performance meant that her next album was finished. “Super Bowl is one thing. New music is another thing. Do you hear that, fans?”
The singer understood that fans would expect new music after her announcement since it was her first live appearance in six years. “The second that I announced this, I said, ‘Oh, my God, they’re going to think my album is coming. I need to get to work.'”
Rihanna announced that she was going to be the 2023 Super Bowl Halftime Show performer back in September when she uploaded a photo of her hand holding an NFL-branded football. The superstar captioned the photo with a simple period, “.”
