Gigantic Aquarium Explodes In Germany
Let’s hope Germany isn’t experiencing a paper towel shortage. They’re going to need a lot of them. According to the BBC, a huge aquarium in Berlin at around 5:50 a.m. on Friday morning (12/16). More than a quarter-million gallons of water gushing out of the AquaDom in the Radisson Blu Hotel.
The AquaDom opened in December 2003 and was given the Guinness World Record for being the world’s largest cylindrical aquarium. The 10-minute elevator ride through the tank that held around 1,500 tropical fish of more than 100 species was one of the highlights of the attraction.
In addition to the massive amount of water that poured into the street and surrounding buildings, glass and other debris were flushed from the hotel. Guests had to be moved out of their rooms. Police say two people were injured. And, sadly, most of the fish could not be saved. You can see video HERE.
