I was born and raised in Shelby, and I am super excited about a brand-new restaurant there. I cannot wait to get back home to Cleveland County and try it. An authentic Thai restaurant is now open in Shelby, North Carolina.
When I lived there, back in 1980 something, we had barbecue places, a few fast food restaurants, and fish camps. That was it. I am not disparaging my hometown. Shelby was a great place to grow up but the town itself has grown so much over the years. The downtown area is beautiful and thriving and there is quite a variety of shops and places to eat. I love Thai food tho so I can’t wait to try this place.
The restaurant is called, Khop Khun Taste of Thailand and you can find it at 1752 East Dixon Boulevard in Shelby. According to the Shelby Star, Khop Khun means “thank you” and it is operated by a husband and wife team.
