If you live in Cabarrus County and have some spare time, Meals on Wheels could really use your help. They are dealing with a shortage of volunteers and are looking for folks to help deliver hot meals to homebound seniors.

According to WBTV, there is a shortage of volunteers statewide. Cabarrus County serves more than 500 residents, five days a week, and that takes a lot of volunteers. Andy Allen and others prepare the meals and get them ready for the volunteers to load up and deliver all over Cabarrus County.

Since the pandemic, there has been a drop in volunteers to deliver meals, especially in Cabarrus County. The area of Concord and Kannapolis is truly in need, but if you can volunteer wherever you live, it would be so helpful.

I'll be honest, I've never thought about volunteering for Meals on Wheels but I'm going to look into it here in Gaston County. For those seniors that are homebound and don't have family close, this service not only provides a hot meal, but some personal interaction. And we all need that!
