Chick-Fil-A To Test A Chicken-less Entree At Select North Carolina Restaurants
Listen we all know, if you’re going to Chick-fil-a you’re going to eat chicken. That’s it that’s the menu. Sure you could probably leave the meat off a salad, or just get a side of fries or mac and cheese. But basically, if you’re eating at the popular fast food restaurant, you’re eating its namesake. But that may not be the case anymore. Chick-fil-a is testing a first-of-its-kind chicken-less entree on the menu at select locations. It’s a cauliflower sandwich. They announced today that beginning Feb. 13, the restaurant will begin testing the new sandwich in three specific markets. These include Denver, Colorado, Charleston, South Carolina, and the Greensboro-Triad region of North Carolina. How did we get so lucky to have two of the three markets in the Carolinas?
The sandwich is not technically vegan as it comes in contact with both milk and eggs but it is a good option for non-meat eaters or those who just aren’t feeling chicken. As I die-hard Chick-fil-a lover (I eat there at least once a week), I don’t think I will be rushing to Greensboro to try this out. I’ve had cauliflower bites that were good, and some that were great. One that stood out to me was General Tso’s cauliflower bites. They had the consistency down that it didn’t even taste like a vegetable. That being said if I want Chick-fil-A, I want Chick-fil-A. And no amount of fried cauliflower will satisfy that craving. But with many people opting for a plant-based diet, there is a market for this sandwich. Did Chick-fil-a get it right? Only time will tell. If you’d like to give the Chick-fil-a chicken-less entree a try at least it’s a short drive up to the Greensboro area.
You’ll have to let me know how it is. I’ll take your word for it, while I’m eating my chicken nuggets.
