Retirees Recreate Rihanna’s Super Bowl Performance On TikTok
While most people seemed to love Rihanna’s halftime extravanganza at Super Bowl LVII in Arizona last month, not everyone thought the pregnant pop star was modeling family-friendly behavior. The halftime show drew 102 complaints to the FCC. Okay, her performance may have been a little gropey-feely, but she didn’t even have a wardrobe malfunction!
Controversy aside, it was an impressive production. So much so, that a group of senior citizens were inspired to put their own spin on it. A dozen residents of the Arcadia Senior Living retirement home in Bowling Green, Kentucky have become social media darlings for their TikTok tribute to Rihanna.
Lip-syncing to the popstar’s 2009 hit “Rude Boy,” the retirees reenacted a brief moment from Rihanna’s halftime show. According to Insider, the viral video had over 21.3 million views and 2.7 million likes as of Sunday (2/26). Whoever is running the social media over there is doing a great job. The assisted living facility’s TikTok account, @Arcadiasrlivingbg, has over 59,000 followers.
The video below begins with most of the lovely ladies dressed in white, mimicking Rihanna’s halftime dancers. Once they each move off screen, we see “Ri-grandma” dressed all in red and rocking the mic. And, rest assured, it’s all very wholesome.
