Alcohol-Free Bar Sugar Lounge Opens In Uptown Charlotte
Over the last year or two I’ve noticed a lot of my friends have decided to go alcohol free. When the pandemic hit, lots of folks drank lots and ate since they were stuck at home. So many activities were shut down, and folks really didn’t have a lot to do, so drinking at home became a way to pass the time. Once things started opening again, many people realized they put on COVID weight. Me included!
Socializing can be difficult without drinking, especially for younger people. Now there’s a bar in Charlotte that’s perfect if you’re living alcohol-free. Sugar Lounge is now open in uptown Charlotte, very close to the Spectrum Center. According to The Herald, the club is open until 4 a.m. and offers a wide variety of mocktails. At night there’s live music and events and in the morning there’s coffee and pastries offered.
Living a healthy lifestyle is important to many people and this club offers a space for people to socialize without alcohol. The mocktails offered lists the ingredients, so if you’re trying to stay away from certain sugars, you’ll be able to pick a drink that’s perfect for you. The Dirty Sugar Martini is an example of one of the mocktails the club serves. It’s made from lemon, lemon syrup and tonic water garnished with mint. Sounds refreshing and tasty!
Drinks start at about $8 each and the club is planning to add more extravagant drinks in the future. The club also offers hookah, cigars, and a CBD dispenser for infusing drinks. Even though it’s a non-alcoholic club, you must still be at least 21 to enter. I like that it’s a cozy club. It’s just over 1,400 square feet and holds around 75 people.
The club is located at 231 N. Caldwell St. in uptown. Right now Sugar Lounge’s hours are temporary. They’re open 7 a.m.-1 p.m. Wednesday-Friday. Saturday and Sunday hours are 9 a.m.-2p.m. and midnight-4.am. Wednesday-Sunday. They’re hoping to be open 24 hours in the future.
