North Carolina Bear Video Shows Some Self-Care
Most of us could learn a lesson from this bear! Self-care is important, and a bear in Asheville, North Carolina is proving that in a video that’s going viral. So far, this bear has over 8 million views.
According to Yahoo, Debra Howell was in her home in Asheville, when she spotted a bear outside her window in her yard. I’m sure seeing a bear in the North Carolina mountains isn’t odd, but I don’t think folks see this lots.
Howell was cooking dinner, saw the bear, and luckily had her phone handy and got the bear on film. The black bear stood up, backed up to a tree, and did the cutest ‘scratch dance’ I’ve ever seen. This bear looks like it’s shimmying up and down the tree. The video isn’t long, but it’s long enough for us all to enjoy the bear scratching an itch.
Biologists say that bears scratching on a tree don’t always mean they have an itch. Bears will also rub up against trees to remove excess hair from their coats. This is especially common in areas when thick winter coats need to be shed for oncoming spring. And since it’s technically spring in North Carolina, this makes sense!
No matter what the bear was doing, people are loving the video!
