South Carolina Man Sets Record For World’s Longest Mustache
Paul Slosar has been growing his mustache for thirty years. Now he has the mustache. According to Guinness World Records, the Summerville, South Carolina man officially holds the title for the longest mustache on a living person. As opposed to a non-living person? Is that actually a category?
Slosar’s two-foot, one-inch English-style mustache was verified at the 2022 National Beard and Mustache Championships in Casper, Wyoming. Why did Paul grow his mustache so long in the first place? Believe it or not, it was because of his wife. Once when Paul trimmed his ‘stache, his wife complained that it was “like kissing a wire brush.” From that day on, Slosar let his whiskers grown long. Really long.
Paul says he didn’t enter facial hair competitions until someone he met at a motorcycle show in Tacoma, Washington invited him to do it. He won ‘Best Mustache’ and ‘Best of Show’ on his very first try. Slosar has been entering the World Beard and Mustache Championships since 2017.
So what’s Paul Slosar’s secret for growing a ‘stache worthy of a Guinness World Record? Coincidentally, Guinness Stout. Slosar believes booze has helped his mustache grow, but he has since switched from Guinness to Jack Daniel’s Whiskey.
