Although it's harder to get into colleges now than when I was a teenager, the classes are a bit broader. Duke University is one of North Carolina's most prestigious colleges and they're now offering students an 'influencer class'.

Social media is a huge part of many people's daily lives and colleges around the country are offering classes on how to become a social media influencer. As much as I'd like to slam the courses, social influencers can make large amounts of money so a class on it makes sense.

According to Cosmopolitan, Duke University is offering 'Building Global Audiences' as part of their Innovation & Entrepreneurship program. The class is teaching students about how to figure out algorithms and grow their followings on social media until the monetization stage. Aaron Dinin is the professor of the class and holds a PhD in English. He says the class centers around content creation. Obviously, to become an influencer you must put out entertaining and captivating content.

Dinin says that influencing on social media is just another 'medium of artistic expression'. And although I understand that I can see me telling my dad I'm talking a class on how to increase my social media presence. He'd say, 'what the hell are you talking about?! I'm not paying for that! 'LOL!

If your kids are interested in becoming a social media influencer and they're going to college soon, they may want to check the classes offered. Many universities offer classes similar to the one at Duke. You can read more on the class here.

Best Colleges In North Carolina

So back to North Carolina. We've got some major recognizable names when it comes to universities. In, fact, in the sports world North Carolina has 4 undefeated college football teams right now 3 weeks into the season. Like many states, sports are a big driver for many of the dozens of colleges and universities across the state of North Carolina. It was a huge factor in my college selection. One that was the best decision I ever made. But returning to academics, North Carolina has options of all sizes including large research universities, midsize colleges, and small private liberal arts colleges. You can choose an institution in a big city, a small town, the mountains, or the beach.

Returning to college football for a moment, coincidental the top 4 national universities in North Carolina are those same 4 teams that are undefeated right now. Another interesting statistic is that our state is home to the number one overall regional university in the south. That's pretty awesome! Keep reading to see where your school made the list. First, you'll see the list of North Carolina National Universities, then Liberal Arts, and finally Regional Colleges/Universities.
