Although this topic is kind of gross, it's real and I think it's an interesting thing. And I think there are probably more people that go through this, even if they won't admit it. On social media there's something called 'the laxative effect' that's going viral. I know it's a real thing, and now I know there's an explanation for it.

According to Buzzfeed, 'the laxative effect' is when you need to go 'number two' while shopping at a store. You enter the store totally fine, and then all of the sudden, BOOM, ya gotta go! This happens to a close relative of mine all the time! Thousands of people post about it online, blaming the store for relaxing them too much. That's one reason for the sudden urge, but the other is that you get a bit excited while shopping.

It's not that the store is exciting, but you may feel a sense of excitement about saving money or purchasing something in particular. Dr. Supriya Rao explains that the gut is called 'the second brain.' If you're going to give a big presentation at work or engage in public speaking, you'll most likely deal with 'butterflies' in your stomach. There's a bit of anxiety that goes along with these types of events. The anxiety or excitement gets your GI tract going, making you hit the restroom.

When I first went on-air full time, I dealt with this anxiety lots! I was nervous! I was only on-air for three months before I was added to a popular morning show in Columbia. My anxiety was high every morning, since I had no idea what I was doing! As with most things, the more I did it, the less anxiety I had.

If you're someone that deals with this type of effect, you're not alone. It's a common occurrence. Talking about it isn't all that festive, but it happens to lots of people.
