Bud Light has been in the news a lot recently, but that hasn't helped its popularity. According to Food & Wine, a new survey from YouGov reveals the most popular beers in the U.S. and Bud Light didn’t make the top 5. Or the top 10.

The poll asked 1,400 Americans how aware they were of 75 different brands of beer and how they feel about each one. This should not be confused with sales figures. It's more about perception, which could be why Bud Light didn't rank very high at this particular time.

The results show that imports are some of the most popular beers in America. Guinness takes the top spot as 98% of respondents say they know the Irish brand and 58% have a positive attitude toward it. In comparison, Bud Light is also recognized by 98% of respondents, but it only has 42% popularity.

The popularity of different beers also varies across generations. Guinness is still number one with Millennials and Gen X, but drops to number two with Baby Boomers. While imports appear to be favored by American beer drinkers in this survey, Bud Light does still get some love from Millennials.
