South Carolina Has Some Of The Most And Least Costly U.S. Beach Towns
Looking to squeeze in one more beach vacation this summer? You can either spend a whole heck of a lot or not so much. It really just depends on which beach towns you decide to visit.
The team at Upgraded Points has released research revealing the most and least expensive U.S. towns with a view of the sand and surf. To come up with their list, they analyzed the average nightly and weekly cost of oceanfront hotels and vacation homes in 75 popular beach towns.
It’s no surprise that eastern Long Island has some of the most expensive beach vacation destinations. Montauk, New York, is the steepest overall with an average cost of $6,454 per week. That’s followed by Southampton and East Hampton. As in, the Hamptons. If Jerry Seinfeld and Beyoncé are your neighbors, you know it’s going to be pricey.
Three coastal communities in California are also on the most expensive list, but so are two seaside spots in South Carolina. Folly Beach ($5,943/week) and Kiawah Island ($5,576/week) both landed in the top ten. However, two other South Carolina towns offer considerably more affordable hotel and rental rates.
A week in Myrtle Beach will only set you back an average of $2,240, while Pawleys Island is priced at an even more attractive $2,160. Overall, the least expensive U.S. beach town is Cedar Key, Florida, where the average cost is $1,330 per week. Both lists are below.
