You Can Help ‘Strike Out ALZ’ With The Charlotte Knights
The Alzheimer’s Association – Western Carolina Chapter is teaming up with the Charlotte Knights to Strike Out ALZ. This special Alzheimer’s Awareness Night game is happening on Saturday, September 9th at Truist Field (324 South Mint Street) in uptown Charlotte.
More than 6 million Americans are living with Alzheimer’s disease, a leading cause of death in the United States. As a result, more than 11 million family members and friends provide care to people living with Alzheimer’s and other dementias. In North Carolina alone, there are more than 180,000 people living with the disease and 369,000 caregivers.
The Charlotte Knights’ game against the Durham Bulls on September 9th begins at 5:35 p.m. (Gates open at 4:30 p.m.) and will include post-game fireworks. Fans are encouraged to wear purple, the official color of the Alzheimer’s movement. The first 250 fans through the gates of Truist Field will receive a Promise Garden Flower pinwheel.
Proceeds from Strike Out ALZ will support the 2023 Walk to End Alzheimer’s – Charlotte, which will take place on Saturday, October 21 to raise awareness and funds for Alzheimer’s care, support and research. The Alzheimer’s Association will have a table in the Community Corner at Truist Field with sign-up information for the Walk. You can also support the Walk by rounding up your purchase at any concession stand during the game on September 9th.
Each Charlotte Knights game ticket purchased through the Strike Out ALZ— Alzheimer’s Awareness Night link contributes a $5 donation to the Alzheimer’s Association. You can also learn more about the fight against Alzheimer’s by calling 1-800-272-3900.
