North Carolina Has One Of The Best Airports For Short Wait Times
When I was a kid, I couldn’t wait to grow up and become an adult. I looked forward to being able to live on my own, drive a car, have a job, and travel wherever and whenever I wanted. One thing I did not dream about was spending a significant portion of my adulthood waiting in airports. But if you love to travel, that’s exactly what you do.
Fortunately, or unfortunately, not all airports are created equally, and the experience you have at an airport can make or break your travel plans. Some airports offer impressive retail, dining, and other diversions. That’s all great. But when you’re really just trying to get from one city to another, being on time is what matters most.
According to CNBC, a new study based on passenger reviews shows which North American airports are doing the best and worst jobs with wait times for check-in, baggage drop and pickup, customs, and more. Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) in Fort Myers tops the list as the best for wait times.
Not much farther down the list is Raleigh-Durham International Airport (RDU) here in North Carolina. I can vouch for RDU. At times, it has proven to be a much better choice than flying out of Charlotte. In fact, Charlotte Douglas International was recently ranked as one of the most crowded airports in North America. You can read more about that below.

On the flip side, the worst airports in North America based on wait times include some in Canada, Mexico, Central America, and the Caribbean. Sangster International Airport near Montego Bay, Jamaica has the dubious distinction of having the longest wait times. It is, by far, the busiest of Jamaica’s three international airports.
