It's so funny that I saw this story today! Earlier this morning I was chatting with a friend that lives in Concord, and we have plans to eat lunch and hang out on Saturday. She lives in Concord, so I was going to let her pick the place. Now I think I'm picking it, and it's going to be The Basement Arcade Bar.

As a kid of the 1970's and 1980's, I used to spend many a Saturday at the local arcade. One of my friends as a kid had access to endless quarters due to the business her parents owned. We'd fill our pockets, get on our bikes, and peddle down to the local arcade in Gastonia. We probably shouldn't have been riding bikes there, as we had to travel down some busy roads, but we did it anyway. To this day, I haven't met anyone as good as that girl at Pac-Man. She'd rock that game!

Playing Galaga and Pinball was my thing. Sadly, I wasn't as good of a gamer as my friend, but I still had fun. The Basement Arcade Bar in Concord brings all that fun back! According to Only In Your State, the retro arcade and bar is located in Concord's historic district, so it fits right in. There are 80's and 90's retro games and a whole wall of pinball machines. And you don't have to weigh your pockets down with quarters. The price to play all day is included with the entry fee. Sweet! It's $10 for adults and $5 for kids, who must be accompanied by an adult.

After 8 p.m., The Basement Arcade Bar is for grownups only. If you enjoy something a bit stronger than a soft drink, the arcade/bar offers a large selection of craft and domestic beers, ciders, and signature cocktails. From Wednesday through Friday, they're open from 5 p.m. to 11 p.m. Saturday they're open from 1 p.m. to 11 p.m. and Sunday from 1 p.m. to 7 p.m.

Looking at their Facebook page, they stay pretty busy. Nostalgia is a powerful thing! Kicking back a few beers and reliving some games from your younger days is a stellar time!
