I grew up and went to middle school and high school in Gastonia. I was born in Gastonia and I still live here. It's funny because when I was a teenager, I wanted to live in a big city. Now that I'm older, I'm beyond happy to be in my hometown. The Gastonia Business Association and the Gaston County EDC are hosting the 2023 'Women Who Rock' awards next week, and I'm hosting!

Women Who Rock is an annual event during Manufacturing Week. It honors women that have made a difference in our community/workplaces or highlight women in positions where men typically are chosen for the role. As a female that spent most of her radio career doing rock and working with all men, I'm looking forward to honoring some kick-ass ladies!

The event is Wednesday, October 6, at Camelot Meadows, 1335 Armstrong Rd, Belmont, NC. The fun will be starting at 3 p.m. and will be wrapping up around 5:30 or so. If you're someone that enjoys networking, this event is perfect for you!

No Pressure Though

A friend of mine that I've know for over 30 years is the one that asked me to host this event. I'm totally honored but I'm a bit nervous! One of her co-workers sent me a text and said, 'These women are ready to laugh.'  No pressure though! Yikes! It's like doing stand-up! I've prepared some stuff already, so hopefully I'll get some giggles. I can't just be a serious host, I have to make people laugh!

Life's too damn stressful as it is, so when there's an opportunity to help someone enjoy smiling, you gotta take the shot! If you'd like to attend, there are still some slots available. The more the merrier! You can buy tickets and find out more info here.
