If You Hate Returning Holiday Packages, Uber Can Do It For You
Need a ride somewhere? Call an Uber. Hungry but don’t want to go out for food? Call an Uber. Need to return a package? Yup, you guessed it. According to CNN Business, the rideshare company has expanded its Uber Connect package delivery service to include returns. This could come in very handy during the busy Christmas shopping season, especially for someone like my wife who has an irrational fear of going to the post office.
Uber Connect was launched in 2020 during the pandemic as a same-day delivery and courier service. The new “Return a Package” feature is designed help take the pain out of returns for online purchases. Instead of loading up the boxes in your car and hauling them to go mail them back, you can hire a driver to drop off up to five prepaid and sealed packages to a post office, UPS, or FedEx nearby. They charge a flat fee of $5, but it’s only $3 for Uber One members. The service is now available on the Uber and Uber Eats apps in close to 5,000 cities.
All of the packages must be valued at less than $100 and weigh less than 30 pounds. Senders can watch their package’s journey to the post office in real time using live tracking in the app and the courier will even send a photo of the receipt after dropping it off. Only postal, UPS, or FedEx locations open for at least the next hour will be listed. It sounds perfect for anyone who doesn’t like having to deal with that whole process.
Opens app. Selects “Return a package” ? What?! 😉😁
