Which New Year’s Resolution Will People Be Making For 2024 In North Carolina And South Carolina?
As the saying goes, “new year, new you.” But what about you will be new in 2024? Plenty of people use the start of a new calendar year to make changes in their personal lives. According to a recent study, the top new year’s resolution in each state differs greatly.
The research team at USA Credit Unions looked into which resolutions were the most popular based on each state using Google Trends data for the month of December. They examined search queries related to common new year’s resolutions, such as “I want to lose weight,” “weight loss,” “ways to lose weight,” etc. The team then calculated the total number of searches for each resolution in each state to determine which resolution had the highest number of searches.
New Year, New You
It’s not at all surprising that a lot of the more popular new year’s resolutions have to do with health, fitness, and appearance. Weight loss is the most Google-searched resolution across the United States. It claimed the top spot in 13 out of 50 states, including South Carolina. The second most popular life change is to eat healthier, with six states searching for this resolution. Four states have exercising more/getting fit as their top resolution for next year.
After the healthy living resolutions, thoughts turn to money. Getting rich is the priority in three states for 2024. Another three states want to spend less and save more money as their top new year’s resolution choice. Other multi-state resolutions include dating, sleeping more, traveling more, and drinking less alcohol.
Self-improvement also shows up on the list. Two states are aiming to learn a new skill in the new year. Residents of two other states, Vermont and North Carolina, resolve to read more in 2024.
