If you’re looking for a vacation spot here in North Carolina that’s also very dog friendly, there’s a spot in Oak Island that’s just for you. Isle of Dogs in Oak Island, North Carolina is a pet-friendly vacation rental that is just gorgeous! The home features sleeping spots for 6 guests, with 3 bedrooms, 4 beds, and two bathrooms. This adorable beach cottage isn’t just for you, it was created to host dogs.

The beach is approximately a 7-minute walk from the cottage, so you and your four-legged family members can check out the ocean easily. Oak Island is not only a family friendly vacation spot, but also dog friendly!  Dogs are allowed on the beach year-round, as long as they’re on a leash. In addition, there are two dog parks on the island that you can check out.

Isle of Dogs has numerous amenities that people will love but it also has amenities just for your dog. The back deck opens to a shaded backyard surrounded by a fully fence 6-foot privacy fence, with a vintage fire hydrant and its very own poop station! Dogs are allowed on the furniture and there’s a space in all the bedrooms for a dog crate. The home welcomes up to 4 dogs.

A Business That Helps Dogs

The owner of Isle of Dogs Is Roberta S’a Griner. Her Airbnb is not just a vacation rental home for profit, she uses her business to help rescue dogs. Although I haven’t personally met Griner, just looking at her Facebook page and business page, you can tell she truly loves animals. Yes, she promotes her rental home, but she also uses her pages to help rescue dogs find forever homes. I love that!

My rescues, Kramer and Eddy, have never been to the beach and I’d love to take them. Isle of Dogs would be the perfect spot! I’d rather go in the off season, since the beach will be a bit less crowded. Kramer is a bit TOO friendly and would want to stop and say hello to everyone! LOL!
