According to AXIOS Charlotte, The Independent Picture House near NoDa is planning a $725K expansion that will add more than 4600 square feet to the already 5900 existing square footage to the Raleigh St. location.
The Independent Picture House is a quaint little theater tucked away where, honestly, you might not find it if you were’t looking for it! But, it’s so worth a trip, especially as we learn this Charlotte movie theater doubles in size soon.
Fans of arthouse, foreign and independent films flock to the spot that has an understated charm that’s sometimes lost in the typical commercial theaters of today. So, what can we expect when this Charlotte movie theater doubles in size?
What To Expect As Charlotte Movie Theater Doubles In Size
When the expansion is completed this Fall, moviegoers will enjoy a fourth, larger auditorium with 145 seats. Plus, there’s a planned mulitpurpose space with seating for 100, which can be rented out.
I was fortunate enough last August to host a screening of “The Hill” at the Independent Picture House. It was a very intimate gathering in one of the auditoriums. Currently, they seat anywhere from 17 to 105.
We had a great time with trivia questions and enthusiastic attendees shouting answers for prizes. And, I am so glad I was introduced to this unique place!
