Last week we got word that Channing Tatum is coming to the Queen City for a film. Now another Hollywood star making a movie in Charlotte. What are we, little Hollywood? It is starting to look that way.

Actress Sydney Sweeney is getting set to make a film in the fall in Charlotte. She will play female boxer Christy Martin according to our source, the Charlotte Observer. We don't have the name of the film just yet. 56 year old Martin reportedly lived in Charlotte for several years. Project Casting's website says the filming will be in late September through November. Open casting calls will be held through September 9 for day players or "extras". The roles will include announcers, boxers and referee.

A separate agency will hold more auditions for extras. Crew will also be needed for the project. This is the second film in a month to announce a major motion picture being filmed in Charlotte. Who isn't excited about the movie "Roofman" with Magic Mike's Channing Tatum being filmed here. I mean can you imagine ladies, rolling up to Southpark and there's Magic Mike at Reid Jewelers? That movie is reportedly filming from October through December.

Are you familiar with Sydney Sweeney, the newest Hollywood star making a movie in Charlotte? She is best known for things like her hit romantic comedy "Anyone But You". You may also know her from "Euphoria" and "White Lotus". But enough about Sydney, let's talk about the main character in the movie.

Christy Martin is a former women's lightweight champion. Her boxing career started when she was 21 after entering a Toughman contest, "on a whim". She was born in 1968 in West Virginia. She was the only girl in her towns little league baseball team and earned a bachelor's degree in education.

Experts Say These Are The 9 Best Movies Filmed In North Carolina

North Carolina may not be the first state that comes to your mind when you think of film production. And yes we aren't New York or California but that doesn't mean some fantastic movies weren't filmed in North Carolina. While Hollywood gets the glamour and notoriety, plenty of iconic films have been shot all over the United States. And this certainly includes North Carolina. I'm not a movie buff, though I do enjoy watching them from time to time. Mainly when I have the attention span and time! And honestly, the first film that came to my mind when I saw this list, well actually I don't think it was made in North Carolina at all. And it wasn't filmed because it's animated.

My mind instantly went to the Disney classic "Cars". Even more surprising? I've never seen it. I just remember hearing about it when they did the premiere at Charlotte Motor Speedway. But don't worry, I did think of one that actually shot in North Carolina (and made this list)- Dirty Dancing. I'm sure you know that the classic 80's film was shot at Lake Lure, NC. But is it the best one to come out of the state? Our friends at BetCarolina have it ranked high, but not first. BetCarolina.com compiled a list of movies filmed in North Carolina and ranked them based on a point system.

This point system uses IMDb rating, Rotten Tomatoes Audience and Critics' Scores, and Oscars recognition to rank the top 10 movies shot in North Carolina. Did your favorite make the list? Number one is definitely a beloved film North Carolina can be proud of! Keep reading to see the top films. You can read the full study by BetCarolina here.
