The Panthers have secured veteran QB Andy Dalton with a new two-year deal worth $8 million, including $6 million guaranteed and incentives that could push it to $10 million total.

The move keeps the experienced 37-year-old from hitting free agency next month. He joined the team in 2023 on an $11 million contract, bringing his experience to help develop rookie Bryce Young.

When Dalton took over as starter in Week 3, he delivered an impressive 319 yards and three touchdowns. Throughout 2023, he accumulated 989 passing yards, throwing seven touchdowns and six interceptions, completing 66.3% of his passes.

With their quarterback situation settled, Carolina's coaching staff can focus on improving their weak defense, while Young maintains his position as the starter for 2025.

Over his 14-year career, Dalton has put up solid numbers - 39,500 passing yards, 253 touchdowns, and 150 interceptions. His presence provides Young with valuable guidance as he develops in the NFL.

Young showed potential against Atlanta, giving fans hope for the future. Management believes Dalton's experience will help continue Young's development.

The extension builds on last season's success. Dalton demonstrated he could perform when called upon while serving effectively as both backup and mentor.

This aligns with Carolina's strategy - Young leads the team while Dalton provides support and shares his knowledge through 2025.
