Rising construction costs and high interest rates led to the delay. Once completed, the location in Maiden, North Carolina, roughly 45 minutes from Charlotte, will be home to experts working on advanced machine learning, AI, and software development.
North Carolina expects to see $1.5 billion yearly from this project. Apple's investment includes $110 million spread across 80 counties, improving everything from internet access to roads and schools.
The campus will be powered completely by renewable energy. While building plans might change with the new timeline, the design includes plenty of room for offices and support facilities.
Apple has been in North Carolina for 20 years, with 1,600 employees already working here. This growth shows their bigger commitment to the area.
Current market conditions and available office space changed the schedule. Construction work, originally planned for this year, is now on hold.
Property values near the planned site continue to climb. Future Apple employees are buying homes, and planning for upcoming opportunities.
The benefits go beyond direct employment. As development moves forward, local builders, retailers, and hotels expect increased business.
