State sports officials picked new spots for North Carolina's high school championships this fall. The switch to eight divisions means games will spread across more places than before.

Football finals will run Dec. 11-13 at three fields. UNC's Kenan Stadium keeps its spot after 88 years of big games. Two new places join the list: Durham County Memorial Stadium and Moretz Stadium at Lenoir-Rhyne.

For volleyball, two sites will split the matches. Wake Forest's Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum gets four games on Oct. 31. NC State's Reynolds Coliseum takes the other four the next day.

Men's soccer finds a fresh home at Guilford College. All eight title games will play at Appenzeller Field from Nov. 20-22. It's the first time Guilford has hosted state finals.

The runners stay put in Kernersville. Cross country keeps its spot at the Ivey Redmon Complex on Oct. 31 and Nov. 1. That makes 13 straight years at this track and 16 years in the town.

Girls' golf spreads across five courses on Oct. 27-28. Gates Four in Fayetteville joins the rotation for its first 1A/2A finals. Other stops include Longleaf in Southern Pines, Stonebridge in Monroe, Sapona in Lexington, and Pinehurst No. 6.

Tennis sticks with Burlington Tennis Center as its main spot. It hosts team matches and big-school singles from Oct. 24 to Nov. 1. Players also hit the courts at Cary Tennis Center, Ting Park in Holly Springs, and Millbrook Exchange in Raleigh.

Cheerleaders keep their date at the Raleigh Convention Center. The Dec. 6 event marks five years straight at this spot.
