Carowinds opened its annual WinterFest last week, and the holiday party will go through January 3. Eight live shows await visitors. Twenty-nine rides and attractions spin and soar across the park.

The event runs through Jan. 3, 2026, on select days from 11 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Three new productions will make their debut this season. "The Wisemen" takes the stage. "Storytime with Mrs. Claus" invites kids to gather round. "Snoopy's Jingle Jam Dance Party" gets feet moving.

"We have 29 rides and attractions, more rides than ever before, we have eight live shows, which is our largest entertainment billing of the season, with three new productions, and we have got you covered on food with 30 menu items," said Chris Foshee with Carowinds, according to WCNC.

The nightly tree lighting ceremony happens at a new Christmas Village, where a 70-foot tree towers at the center.

Guests can ride Thunder Striker and Fury 325 during the winter season, while the amusement park transforms into a winter wonderland with holiday lights strung across pathways and interactive attractions scattered throughout.

"I hope people get to experience that too and have fun out here with their families and enjoy and have a good time," said BJ Barr, who attended the opening night on Nov. 28.

The seasonal menu offers 33 items at eight locations. Hot chocolate cupcakes tempt sweet tooths. Carved ham fills plates.

The park will extend hours on Dec. 31 from 2 p.m. to 1 a.m. for New Year's Eve, featuring a countdown and fireworks display that lights up the night sky.

Families have made the tree lighting a tradition each year, returning to watch the lit tree stand over the crowds as children press close to parents.

Tickets are available on the park's website.
