The expansion comes as nearly 730 grocery stores compete for a piece of the $10.4 billion market in the Charlotte region. Walmart has led the field for six years. Matthews-based Harris Teeter and Salisbury-based Food Lion trail behind.
Lowes Foods opened a Waxhaw store at 3412 S. Providence this month. The chain also launched an Indian Land, South Carolina, spot in October.
