The power company is asking customers to reduce electricity usage on Wednesday as they prepare for the weekend ahead. The storm is expected to bring ice, freezing temperatures, and possibly snow to the region this weekend.
The power company issued "Power Hours" requesting reduced energy use for Wednesday morning and throughout the day. Customers should adjust thermostats to "auto" and take shorter showers.
WCNC Charlotte Chief Meteorologist Brad Panovich reports " areas north of Interstate 40 face a greater chance of snow." He also warns of slick roads, power outages, hazardous driving conditions, and more ahead of the weekend.
Head to the Duke Energy site to learn more about how you should prepare for a winter storm. The site states, "Heat can be more critical than power, so you’ll need to find ways to ensure your critical heating needs or thermal process loads are resilient and backed up."
The power company suggests that everyone prepare for the increased demand for heat ahead of the weekend to ensure no further damage.
