Celebrating Carol Buie-Jackson
As we celebrate women this month, it’s the perfect time to meet Carol Buie-Jackson. Let’s take a look at Carol’s life as a lighthearted and humorous Corporate America dropout, yet very successful owner of Wildology and Bird House on the Greenway in Charlotte, North Carolina.
Carol is a wife and good friend to many, as well as a mom of a beautiful furry friend named Ella that customers refer to as the shop dog. She serves on the Board of the National Wildlife Federation and was the first female board chair of the North Carolina Wildlife Federation. Her credentials also include Habitat Steward, Master Naturalist, and Master Composter.
Buie-Jackson’s two wild bird boutiques provide quality products for a thriving backyard wildlife habitat as well as garden art and inspired gifts for fellow “nature nerds.” She schooled me on quality bird seed versus the other seed on the market that birds dislike, and one of my best radio shows was with Carol as she taught listeners the importance of planting milkweed for the survival of monarch butterflies.
If you want to become more connected with the calmer parts of life, reach out to Carol because she’s also the co-founder of HAWK (Habitat and Wildlife Keepers), the Matthews chapter of the NC Wildlife Federation. That’s a good group to know.
Since we’re spending more time at home, let’s try to enjoy our families, backyards, and the time to do extra chores we’ve put on the back burner. Stay safe, have fun!
