Dolphins Frolic With Kayaks In New York City
When I was in Avon on North Carolina’s Outer Banks a couple of weeks ago, I had a front row seat to what I like to call the “Super Amazing Twilight Dolphin Experience.” I got to see a pod of dolphins frolicking a few yards away from me as the sun was starting to set. It was pretty magical, but not entirely unexpected at the Outer Banks.
Imagine seeing the same thing between Manhattan and New Jersey. That’s what some folks were able to enjoy recently on the Hudson River when two dolphins popped up close to where they were kayaking. It’s quite a scene with the towering skyline of New York City in the background.
One of the marine mammals breached the river’s surface just inches away from the front of the kayak, as you can see in the video below. Urban dolphins…who knew?
