The staff at Siesta Key Oyster Bar in Sarasota, Florida came up with one of the more unique ways of raising money that I've heard. They're literally pulling it off the walls.
For years, customers have been stapling dollar bills onto the walls and ceiling of Siesta Key Oyster Bar for fun. It looked a little something like this:
But the DIY decor has been coming down. For the past month, Siesta Key's employees have been carefully detaching the money from the walls and ceiling to donate to Hurricane Dorian relief in the Bahamas. So far, the bar has been able to contribute around $15,000 to the cause, and they're not done yet.
No word if the dollar bill tradition will start all over again at the bar, but if it does it's good to know the money will be on the walls and in the hands of some very kindhearted folks.
