Moment With Mel: The Scary Closet
The closet. It can be one of the scariest things in your life. Not because there may be monsters in there, but because that’s where your clothes are. And if you are like me, and have gained weight during the pandemic, opening that closet door and looking at your jeans can be frightening!
For the last few months, I haven’t even tried to wear jeans. All of them are too tight, and I can’t even get some them on at all. UGH! This week I decided to confront the “jean monsters” in my closet. I’ve been eating healthier the last month with the help of Profile by Sanford and I’ve lost some weight. For my goal weight, I need to lose way more weight, but I’ve lost close to 20 lbs, so I decided to try on a pair of jeans.
Now, I didn’t want to make myself cry, so I went for a black pair of jeans since black makes you look thinner. I also made sure that the jeans were “stretchy jeans.” Unfortunately, they were tight, but I got them on. Score! I wore them to work. When I got home I was happy to take them off since they were tight, but hey…..I got in em! A small win for the week.
This is the first time that I’ve lost weight without starving myself. With Profile I’m able to eat multiple times a day, so I never get too hungry and just eat whatever. I’ve also become mindful of why I’m eating. Since I’m a stress eater, I’m trying to think before just shoving some food in my mouth. I’m also trying to stop the “mindless eating.” You know, the eating you do while watching TV. You start snacking on something and then boom! The whole bag of snacks is gone.
I have a ways to go to hit my goal weight, but I’m making progress, and that’s a bonus. Today I feel good. And that’s such a great feeling! The food I’m eating is satisfying and I rarely crave ice cream or junk food. Woohoo!
