Backyard BBQ Cookoff And Country Music Festival This Weekend In Gaston County

There's a chill in the air, finally, so fall is coming! And what better way to celebrate than with some yummy food and good tunes! This weekend at Dallas Lavender Lane Farm in Dallas, N.C., you can enjoy both!

One of Gaston County's best kept secrets is Dallas Lavender Lane Farm! The gorgeous farm offers numerous varieties of lavender, along with lavender bath products, plants, and lavender infused foods. Throughout the year the farm holds lots of different types of festivals, and this weekend their BBQ Backyard Cookoff and Country Festival will happen Saturday, September 23 and Sunday, September 24. Both days will run from 10 a.m. til 7 p.m.

If you're like me, an eater, this is a delicious event to check out. There will be numerous types of BBQ for you to try. In addition, the festival will have lots of food vendors on hand serving BBQ, tacos, Russian foods, and desserts. If you fancy yourself as an amazing griller, you can still enter the BBQ grilling competition. Registration is $50 per team and all registration fees are returned to the competitors in the form of prize money. All grilling competitors will receive five free VIP passes.

The festival will have numerous Country acts performing, with line dancing performances too! Not only will there be live music, but all types of craft vendors and mechanical bull riding! This festival is fun for the entire family, with kids 12 and under getting in free. Kids and adults can enjoy the petting zoo including baby goats, train rides, a huge playground, a bubble show, face painter, and more!

There will also be a 'Daisy Dukes and Daisy Dudes' competition, which should be awesome to see! Feel free to enter the contest with your short-short cut off jeans. Prizes are offered in this contest as well as the grilling competition.
