Since I was around 12 years old, I have been obsessed with music. I have no doubt that my love of music was intensified by MTV. I became aware of so many artists due to music television. Early on, I loved Duran Duran, Rick Sprinfield, Pat Benatar, and of course, Journey. Then, in 1983, my world changed. I saw Jon Bon Jovi sing “Runaway” on American Bandstand. I fell in love!! Bon Jovi toured in 1984, their first tour, with the Scorpions. Bon Jovi was the opening act. I was 14 years old in 1984. I begged my Mom to take me to the show, which was at the old Charlotte Coliseum. My Mom agreed. That night, in 1984, my world changed. I saw the Scorpions. I became obsessed! I learned every lyric to their “Love at First Sting” album, and still know every song off the album! The Scorpions turned me into a hard rock fan! I was enthralled by their sound. I then went on to become not only a music fan, but a serious rock/hard rock/metal fan. I will never forget my Mom saying to me in 1987, that one day I would “grow out of” the hard rock music. I was 17 then. I’m 48 now, and I still LOVE it. The Scorpions “Love at First Sting” album was released on this date in 1984. So was Ratt’s “Out of the Cellar” album. Two albums that made me into the crazy old rock chick I am today. Thanks to both bands, and to all the other 80’s rockers, for giving me such amazing memories. AND amazing tunes! 😉
