Britney Spears Reportedly Pushes Back Against Dad’s Conservatorship
A new report claims Britney Spears is pushing back against her father’s control of her affairs.
According to TMZ, Spears told a judge that her father, Jamie Spears, had her committed to a mental hospital against her will and forced her to take drugs for her mental health.
The claims are an about-face for Spears, who said in a social media video posted just a few weeks ago that she herself had made the decision to enter treatment.
“All is well,” she said in a social media video. “My family has been going through a lot of stress and anxiety lately, so I just needed time to deal. But don’t worry, I’ll be back very soon.”
Weeks later, she filed a restraining order against her former manager, Sam Lutfi, for allegedly harassing her family and planting #FreeBritney stories, which she claimed were untrue.
But TMZ reports that Spears’ mother, Lynne Spears, who is divorced from Jamie, supported her daughter’s claims and desires to have control of her affairs.
According to TMZ, the judge did not grant Britney the motion to end Jamie’s conservatorship, which has been in place for 11 years. Instead, the judge ordered that Britney be evaluated before a decision is made.
