Throwback Thursday Video Of The Week: Paula Abdul “Opposites Attract”
The movie Who Framed Roger Rabbit, which combined animation with live action, opened in theaters on June 22, 1988. It was a massive hit at the box office that year. In 1989, Paula Abdul released her single “Opposites Attract.” The video for that song features Paula singing and dancing with a cartoon character named ‘MC Skat Kat.’ Coincidence?
As an L.A. Lakers cheerleader and music video choreographer in the ’80s, Paula Abdul was bound to be an MTV star. “Opposites Attract,” from her debut album Forever Your Girl, topped the charts in the U.S., Canada, and Australia, while peaking at #2 in the U.K. The song also gave Paula her first Grammy Award for Best Music Video (1991).
