There’s around 5,000 children in Mecklenburg County with a parent who is currently incarcerated. This statistic increases the risk of many things happening, especially around back to school time.
Having a parent who is incarerated means thier children might be living in poverty or might not have enough or proper school supplies to start school, but most importantly they may not have someone to listen to their needs.
