Company Behind Louis Vuitton And Dior Use Perfume Factories To Make Hand Sanitizer
LVMH, the company behind brands like Louis Vuitton, Givenchy, Dior, will be using their perfume factories to produce hand sanitizers.
As Vogue explains, is in response to the hand sanitizer shortage in France due to coronavirus. LVMH states, “LVMH will use the production lines of its perfume and cosmetic brands […] to produce large quantities of hydroalcoholic gels from Monday. These gels will be delivered free of charge to the [French] health authorities.”
Vogue adds that the sanitizer deliveries will begin tomorrow through the end of the week. “LVMH expects to produce 12 tons of the hydroalcoholic gel in the initial batch.”
Per Time, New York is using prisoners and prison labor to provide hand sanitizer for their residents. As the NY governor explains, “New York has the capacity to make 100,000 gallons of NYS Clean a week, at the cost of $6 a gallon. It will be provided to government agencies, the Metropolitan Transportation Authority (MTA), schools, and prisons. It will not be sold to the public, despite shortages and price surges in New York City and other affected areas of the state.”
