Throwback Video Of The Week: The Outfield “Since You’ve Been Gone”
2020 strikes again. On October 19th, we lost Tony Lewis, the lead singer and bassist from British hitmakers The Outfield. He passed away at the age of 62 at his home near London.
The Outfield enjoyed their greatest success between 1985 and 1992. Their second studio album, Bangin’, yielded the single “Since You’ve Been Gone,” which landed on both the U.S. pop and rock charts in 1987.
The video for “Since You’ve Been Gone” seamlessly blends the use of black-and-white and color, giving it a very ’80s look. It was filmed at the ruins of the former Beckton Gas Works outside of London. The damage to the buildings was done just weeks before The Outfield got there. The site had been used in Stanley Kubrick’s war film Full Metal Jacket.
