‘Hamilton’ Could Be The First Show To Return To Broadway
It looks like the folks behind Hamilton are making moves to have the show return in the summer. Per Page Six, the Broadway show will reportedly return to Richard Rodgers Theatre on July 4.
The outlet explains that Governor Cuomo might reopen theaters at a limited capacity, which means that most shows would be operating at a loss. But because Hamilton could make an average of $600,000 in profit each week, they can sustain themselves with a limited audience.
They add, “Also, power player Lin-Manuel Miranda would be well placed to take a reduction in pay on his nightly cut as its author.”
Page Six also points out, though, if vaccine rollouts are successful, theaters may open sooner.
